This season I see velvet everywhere: in fashion shows, clothes, accessories!
And I’m very happy about it, because it’s a rich, tactile and sensual fabric.
Well, it’s one of my favorite fabric. And apparently I’m not the only one to love it, because even celebrities wear it too.
Here are some tips to choose your velvet clothes for this season and the Holidays:
COLOR
The velvet has a very good color rendering: on this fabric in fact, colors look more intense and, therefore, richer.
If you have strong colors or you want a sexy style, choose a darker velvet: beautiful in blue, green or bordeaux.
If you have more delicate colors or simply a more romantic style, then choose the velvet with pastel colors.
DRESSES IN VELVET
Depending on the age, style and occasion, you can choose the length of your dress, provided it is velvet!
The micro lengths are perfect for young women and less formal occasions. With a low-heel boot, they are also perfect for the daytime.
The little dress is yet a classic, both for its style and the dress code.
But it’s the most versatile: for formal occasions choose important accessories; for less formal events just wear a jacket and gritty accessories.
For important evenings (by the way, soon there will be the first at La Scala), the long dress in velvet is really queenly. I think the pictures speak for themselves:
FULL OUTFIT IN VELVET
Perhaps it is not suitable for all working environments, but a full outfit in velvet is really sophisticated!
You can wear it for events and any kind of ceremonies. It’s more informal during the day if you wear lace-up shoes, it’s more formal in the night if you wear pump.
JACKET IN VELVET
Certainly just one piece in velvet is less challenging. But no less versatile!
Because of the tactile and chromatic richness of the fabric, a jacket in a smooth velvet can raise the level of any outfit.
Ribbed velvet fabric instead is much more casual.
SHIRT IN VELVET
Same versatility for the shirt, but a little less formal.
We can say that that a shirt in velvet is perfect for the winter like the denim shirt is perfect for the summer season.
SKIRT IN VELVET
The skirt in velvet is also very nice, especially pleated or with a particular cut.
It’s easy to match it: just a pair of boots and a thin top (even better if with boat neck).
LINGERIE IN VELVET
I told you it was a seductive fabric. So of course the underwear in velvet can’t be missed!
Technically, this is more often chenille, but the effect is the same: perfect to pet …
SHOES IN VELVET
Let’s talk about the biggest woman’s passion: shoes.
It doesn’t matter if they’re flat shoes or pump, open toe or closed toe shoes: what matters is that they are in velvet!
OTHER ACCESSORIES IN VELVET
And we close with other accessories: handbags, backpacks, but also accessories for hair.
For a true diva look, choose a velvet headband or turban: the band in the photo is from Sine Modus (and who could it be?)
Finally, we dispel a myth: it’s not true that the velvet is good only to skinny bodies. If you are curvy, just choose a dark, matte and smooth version (not ribbed).
That’s it!
