I’ll confess: I have a huge passion for the 90s look these days.
Of course, as with every decade, we can not recover everything: no to clothes by Onyx and wedges by Fornarina, but recover with enthusiasm many other things …
Here’s my Decalogue to create a 90s look now:
PLAID SHIRT
The 90s look is typically grunge and (fake) messy. The plaid shirt is a must: wear it open with a t-shirt. However, if you are not so casual, wear other items with the same patterns, like a scarf.
THE OVERALLS
If you want a sporty version, definitely choose the one in jeans. But the overalls is super versatile also in black. For a more sophisticated style, choose on a brace overalls, to be combined with a top or a shirt.
THE LONG CARDIGAN
There isn’t a 90s look without a long cardigan. Fashion blogger and it girls of the moment have already made it a must, each with their own style. Below, in the order: Chiara Ferragni, Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo.
FLOREAL DRESSES
Back in the 90s they were very fashionable: today we can adapt them to more current clothes, to be matched with a pair of ankle boots. Depending on your style and your body type, you can choose the right length of the dress.
CALVIN KLEIN
It was already a stated brand, however, Calvin Klein has had a certain success in the nineties. Today we can complete the look with a CK detail, maybe underwear. And if you think it’s not sexy, well, you’re wrong.
BACKPACK
Have you noticed lately that we see backpacks everywhere? Any brand (re)proposed it. Well, the backpack is the key accessory for a 90s look. You can wear it on a shoulder or by hand.
COMBACT BOOTS
I recently posted an article on how to wear Dr Martens (with style), speaking precisely of the typical 90s grunge look. Match them with skinny pants, but also with skirts and dresses.
ROUND RAY BAN
How not to mention the Ray Ban sunglasses? For a 90s look I’d prefer the round ones: an evergreen item that is very trendy, then as now. Best with dark lens, no mirror.
ROUGE NOIR NAILPOLISH
And now we talk the beauty. Not everyone knows that the famous Chanel Rouge Noir was born in the nineties. Over time an entire collection in this shade has grown, but the nailpolish remains a real evergreen.
ICONS
About the 90s look, how not to mention Kate Moss and Winona Ryder? The first is among the women that I like most in the world, the second inspired me when I decided to cut my hair …
Nostalgic or not, how can you not love the nineties?
